    Question

im stuck TURBO or JRSC. I want torque! I want a large HP gain. JRSC sounds like a tazmanian devil under the hood in my friends delsol (very fierce). of course Turbos have that blow off value. iT'S A 99 AND I DONT WANT TO BLOW THE ENGINE OR GET STUCK WITH MAJOR WORK(DOWN TIME) hope some people cant give some good advice. and what is up with group buys?

I would start by pricing out a turbo kit and a sc kit, then go from there.

Nobody can tell you want you should get unless you attach a price (including install) to both options, and also tell us what you want from your car, and how you plan on using it.

Lundgren is right. Nobody can tell you what you must decide for yourself. You *really* need to price both options including installation charges plus parts and labor of *all* needed upgrades.
Both, the JRSC and definitely the turbo need a a minimum of a few additional things that they don't tell you to make them work acceptably.
Know for sure that the turbo has potential for making more power than the JRSC. There is not doubt about that. You must know what you want out of your car and how you will use it.
*Any* F/I system will enable you to wear out your engine much faster than stock ;-). It all depends how you drive. There is also the fact that you might have troubles with the warranty if you develop problems.
Bottom line? get realistic (not optimistic) estimates of the cost per H.P. Decide what amount of power you want and how deep your pockets are.

    Good luck,

    Manuel

thanks guys i keep trying to read up on GREDDY's kit. not sure what kind of gains i get. jrsc gets 40hp at 6psi in a gsr engine. i hear of people getting 3 years on the turbo trouble free and many people getting good results from jackson's kit. i want a street race'n car that i car take on a track too. so im getting suspension advice too. got a quote of 2900 on greddy's turbo kit 2000 edition(gsr) non intercooled 500or less to put it in. and a couple of guys are talking a possible 2000 or less for the jrsc. if so how should i go. i run my car once or twice a week on street, ya know to hear those secondaries. all other time s i treat the car like a baby. HELP- i need knowledgeable peoples advice to make the choice that is right for me the 2900 turbo is a real price too!(lowest ive ever heard of)

You say take it to the track now and then, what kind of track, drag race, autocross?

If you want the best drag race car, go turbo, for the street the sc will be better. The turbo will make more top end power, the sc will make power quicker down low, where you'll find your self driving more often, unless you drive on the street from 6-8k rpm all day.

So you have 2,900 for a turbo, or (really you'll pay 2,400 for a sc), now price out the install.

4dGSR at work - you said you wanted torque, you wanted a large HP gain. Thwn you need to get a turbo kit. I would recommend the Drag 3 kit. I know of many Teg ownwer that are putting down around 280hp and 220ft-lbs @wheels with the Drag 3 kit. It will run you $4000-4500.....kit, gauges, block guard.
